Inspiring bonds one horse and human at a time…
Training with Cody
Cody Bisignano is passionate about empowering her clients to train their own horses by using the same principles and groundwork techniques that she has implemented with the equines she has trained over the last 34 years.
These practices offer essential building blocks for developing a better relationship with your horse, no matter if your horse is a Grand Prix competitor or a pet.
“True horsemanship begins with the mindset of the human.”
— Cody Bisignano
When you begin to understand the horse language and their process, you are able to start becoming the leader your horse needs.
Cody’s training sessions empower you to navigate different challenges in your personal relationship with your horse. When you step in this arena, you come out a different person.
Cody has helped transform and resolve many different challenges, including addressing herd bound behaviors, distractions, dullness/ignoring, anxiety/nervousness, trailer loading issues, and more.
When horses carry tension or exhibit “problem” behaviors, many equestrians believe they need to avoid the triggers to keep their horses in a calm mental state or that they need to push their horses through their challenges until they achieve perceived compliance.
Traditional dominance-based approaches often result in horses that are confused, anxious, aggressive, or shut down, which can leave a lasting impact that creates more problems than it resolves. Many times what a troubled horse actually needs to experience is exposure to “positive” stressors in a controlled setting, such as attention exercises and groundwork.
These exercises will first bring the horse up into an elevated state or their sympathetic nervous system, before they are able to come back down into their parasympathetic nervous system and true learning can take place. It is in this state that self-soothing and processing behaviors begin to emerge; the horse, in turn, self-regulates which then become available for learning, and deeper connection with their human.
For those seeking deeper support with challenging behaviors or achieving particular goals with their horse, Justin Stables offers short-term boarding paired with custom training plans built collaboratively between Cody and each client—because every horse and human is unique.
